Moscow Patriarchate

Hundredth Anniversary of the Death of Saint Tikhon – April 6, 2025

April 7 will mark the hundredth anniversary of the death of the Holy Patriarch Tikhon, who initiated the foundation of our archdiocese by Metropolitan Eulogius.

Given the timing of Great Lent and the Annunciation on the same day according to the Julian calendar, the feast of Saint Tikhon is moved to Sunday, April 6. The Patriarchate encourages its dioceses to organize liturgical and cultural celebrations throughout this year. These are presented on the website created specifically for this purpose: https://svttihon.ru. It also provides extensive information on the life of Saint Tikhon.

The Archdiocesan Council, chaired by Metropolitan John of Dubna, has decided to mark this centenary in a liturgical manner: see details below. This will take place at the cathedral before the relics of the Saint, led by the metropolitan John of Dubna and, as far as possible, in all the parishes of the Archdiocese. Those who do not have vigils or who wish to do so are invited to join those at the cathedral on Saturday, April 5 at 5 p.m.
