Communiqué from the Archdiocesan Council 8 May 2016

It is with sadness that the Archdiocesan Council has learnt of the death of Professor Nikita Alexeevich Struve, a famous personality of the Russian emigration and a prominent member of the Archdiocese. Nikita Alexeevich was an active member of the ACER – MJO (Russian Student Christian Association and Orthodox Youth Movement) and as such was the editor of ‘The Messenger’ (Vestnik RSKhD) journal, a leading review of Russian culture. He also created the French language journal ‘Le Messager’. For many years he was responsible for publications of the ‘YMCA Press’ which printed all the important works of contemporary Russian literature, including above all the works of Alexander Solzhenitsyn. He also contributed very extensively in the dissemination of works on culture, spirituality and Russian Orthodox theology through the ‘Editeurs Réunis’ bookshop of which he was the director. He was an elected member of the Archdiocesan Council from 2004.

The Archbishop and the Council expresses its condolences to his wife Marie Alexandrovna and family.

Nikita Struve’s funeral will take place Friday, May 13, in the morning at the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (10.00 Divine Liturgy followed by the office of the funeral).

Memory Eternal.
