His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel visited the Throne of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, in Istanbul, from Thursday 28 September to Sunday 1 October 2006, accompanied by M. Michel Sollogoub, secretary of the Council of the Archdiocese. On 28 September they were received by his All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and the members of the Holy Synod. The following day they had a working meeting with the members of the Synodal Commission with responsibility for Patriarchal dioceses abroad. They then had a private discussion with His All-Holiness. On Saturday 30 September they attended a solemn reception held on the occasion of the first visit to the Phanar of the new Primate of the Czech and Slovak Church, Archbishop Christopher of Prague. On Sunday 1 October, Archbishop Gabriel took part in the Divine Liturgy, at which His All-Holiness Bartholomew presided, in the Patriarchal Cathedral of St George, at the Phanar, with the new Primate of the Czech and Slovak Church, Archbishop Christopher of Prague, and those bishops of the Patriarchate of Constantinople who were present in Istanbul.
