Communiqué of the Council of the Archdiocese of October 24, 2019

Present were: Archbishop Jean, Archpriest Jean Gueit, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Archpriest Theodore Vandervoort, Archdeacon Vsevolod Borzakovsky, Nicolas Lopoukhine, Board Secretary, Michel Ribault Mennetiere, Lay Member. Absent: Alexander Victoroff, Treasurer of the Archbishopric, Elisabeth von Schlippe, Alexis Obolensky, Didier Villanova, lay members.

After seeing the cessation of activity of 3 of its clerical members, the Board has named Father André Drobot, the only deputy cleric elected in 2016 able to sit on the council to date. Father André accepted and then joined the working session.

The Board supported Archbishop John in his intention to inform all clergy of letters of formal notice and threats addressed to himself and to the Secretary of the Board respectively.

The Board has begun preparations for the AGM and the AGE to be held simultaneously in the second half of January. Their object will be, as provided for by the statutes, to hear the reports concerning the life of the Archdiocese, to proceed with the renewal of half of the members of the Council of the Archdiocese, to proceed to the election of auxiliary bishops in accordance with Article 33 of the Articles of the Governing Union and finally to revise the statutes so as to bring them in line with the Act of attachment to the Moscow Patriarchate. The next Board meeting in mid-November will set all the organizational arrangements for these two General Assemblies
